1. Where else I can maximize Google and its apps for my work in INTRICT?
Learning how to really use Google is a big help in my work not only in INTRICT, but in my other classes as well. Google's applications give me the opportunity to work with my groupmates easily even though we are not together physically. The calendar will surely help me in scheduling appointments with whoever I need to meet. Its way of notifying me through my cellphone about my schedule is really helpful for I won't need to check my planner or online calendar anymore. Besides, my cellphone is usually glued to me. Looking for an e-mail even though my inbox is full of mails [which I'm sure will happen after a few months] won't be hard for I can also search my own inbox. Cooooool, right? I was actually already contented with Yahoo, but when we were introduced to iGoogle, I realized how Yahoo is [as Sir Lloyd says it..] "Not good enough."
2. What are other online applications out there that similarly support my activities as a student?
Google may be the "best" help I can get online, but there are also other applications in the internet that similarly support my activities as a student. Topping the list are Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Groups. Yahoo is most likely the most popular online 'help.' It is the website I never forget to check. During my high school years, communicating with groupmates and classmates is usually done through Y!M if not meeting physically. The Yahoo Groups also help us share documents even though not all are online. Multiply is also one of the popular websites for in here we can share files.. but it is used to share personal lives most of the time.
3. What exactly do I mean about productivity? How is productivity related to technology?
Productivity is, obviously, the quality of being productive. But what is productive? Being productive is having the power of producing. It is related through technology for technology helps us to be productive. Chatting with many people through the internet, for example, is like hitting two birds with one stone. We can't talk to two people face-to-face at the same time about two different things, but with chatting online, it is made easier. It also saves time. Some things are also made faster with technology like managing files and the such.
4. What can I suggest to my parents to also improve their productivity?
My parents are managing a business on construction. They have many clients ranging from residential owners to franchisees of big companies like Mcdonald's, Figaro, and Globe Telecom. One of the things I became aware of is how they manage their files. They have a lot of documents that they need to keep ever since the business started [which was almost 10 years ago]. There is this part in their office full of folders that are full of papers. The thing is, when they need a file from those papers, they look for it manually which takes a long time. Having a program [instead of keeping those papers] specially made for their company is actually a good start to help them become productive. It won't only save space, it'll also save them time looking for whatever file they need.
